All the repercussion “Gagged in Brazil” is having, the Government’s response to the film, plus it’s attempts to take the film off air are discussed in an article written by Paula Góes for Global Voices. The article can be read in: Portuguese, Spanish, English and Chinese.
The short documentary I shot in Brazil for Current TV, went on air on the 27th of May, 2008. The film is about the relations between governments and media, and the pressures suffered by media professionals and journalists.
The film explores the relations between the Government of Minas Gerais, the second richest in Brazil, with the media in the country, and how it uses it’s economic power to suppress criticism and build up the image of the Governor, a presidency candidate, trough advertising investments.
